Competition Rules ( for download )
The competition will take place at the Prague Grammar and Music School, 9, Komenského náměsti, Prague 3 , from 18th to 20th March, 2016
- The competition is open to violinists attending junior music schools, conservatoires, secondary music schools, private schools or who are receiving private tuition, and who will perform the prescribed repertoire and comply with the age limit of 16 years.
- Competitors will play from memory and comply with the prescribed time limits; works by 20th and 21st century authors in Category IV. and V. may be performed from the score.
- Non-compliance with the rules may result in disqualification.
- The competition is in one stage only. The chosen programme is binding, but in exceptional circumstances the jury may give permission for a change to a chosen piece.
- The jury reserves the right not to award certain prizes, also to award a shared prize, as well as to award special prizes.
- Any competitor has the right to enter a higher age category.
Age categories and time limits for performance
Category I – up to 8 years of age. For competitors born on or after 01.01.2008
Performance time limit 3 - 7 minutes.
Recommended composition: Josef Micka: Elementary studies Nos. 2. or 3. | download
Category II – up to 10 years of age. For competitors born on or after 01.01.2006
Performance time limit 4 - 10 minutes.

Category III – up to 12 years of age. For competitors born on or after 01.01.2004
Performance time limit 7 - 12 minutes.
Recommended composition: Josef Micka: Changing position studies Nos. 36. or 48. or 50 | download
Category IV – up to 14 years of age. For competitors born on or after 01.01.2002
Performance time limit 10 - 17 minutes. Works of at least two contrasting stylistic periods must be performed. One of the pieces must be composed by a Czech composer. (From baroque to 21st century)
Category V – up to 16 years of age. For competitors born on or after 01.01.2000
Performance time limit 14 - 20 minutes. Works of at least two contrasting stylistic periods must be performed. One must be by a Czech composer from a 20th or 21st century, composed after 1914.

Prizes
- Three main prizes can be awarded in each category
- Honorary prizes will also be awarded
- Each competitor will receive a Certificate of Participation

- Voucher for the overall winner of the competition to stay for 7 nights in 4* hotel Orea resort Sklář in the Czech Repubic ( Harrachov )
- Recording session for the Czech Radio (for the overall winner of the competition )
- Exceptional Parker Award for the overall winner of the competition (luxury fountain pen)
- Prize for the overall winner: Solo performance with an orchestra at the International Music Festival in Kroměříž in summer 2017
- Vít Popp ( České hudební nástroje ): Prize for the overall winner of the competition
- Parker Award: for all prize winners
- Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 Award ( payment of the violin masterclass at the Academy of Václav Hudeček in Luhačovice )
- Vít Popp ( České hudební nástroje ): Voucher for violin accessories for all prize winners
- Voucher for the overall winner in each category to stay for 2 nights in 4* hotel Orea resort Sklář in the Czech Republic ( Harrachov )
- Prize of the Chairman of the Jury for the most successful Czech competitor to perform at “The Václav Hudeček`s Prague Music Festival” on 22.3.2016 in the Concert Hall of Prague Conservatoire
- The PhDr. Josef Micka Award ( 3.000 CZK)
- Award for the best interpretation of J. Micka´s Study ( 1.000 CZK )
- Prize for the most successful Teacher/ Professor ( 2.000 CZK )
- Prize for the most successful Czech competitor ( 1.000 CZK )
- Prize for the most successful Overseas competitor ( 1.000 CZK )

- A registration fee of 500 CZK must also be paid by 31.01.2016.
- The registration fee is non-refundable.
- In the case of over-subscription, the number of competitors may be limited, due to time concerns. In this case, those who submitted their applications the earliest will be given precedence.
- Foreign competitors must pay the registration fee via PayPal.
